The trail starts at the Fort Lee Historic Park Visitor Center, passes the George Washington Bridge, goes down the cliff along a shore trail that passes back under the bridge, and loops back up the cliff and back to the Visitor Center. It’s surprisingly rugged. For a kid-friendly version, just turn around before you go too far instead of a doing the full loop. There are nice overlooks from the top of the Palisades. Hawks Cliff – Green Pond Mountain – Pequannock Watershed
Breakneck Ridge is an incredibly popular hike so don’t expect to get the trail to yourself. The steep rock scramble ascent will get your heart pumping quickly and you’ll be rewarded with great views of the Hudson River. It’s about a 3 mile loop, but all the action is in the first mile.
